Press Release – Seminar "Practical Challenges in the Assessment of Vertical Restraints"

Subject: Seminar "Practical Challenges in the Assessment of Vertical Restraints" in Athens, 16-17 May 2024

The Academy of European Law* (ERA), in partnership with the Hellenic Competition Commission, is organising a seminar on "Practical Challenges in the Assessment of Vertical restraints" that will be held on May 16 and 17, 2024, at the premises of Nomiki Bibliothiki, in the center of Athens.

 This seminar is aimed at providing a thorough update for competition law practitioners on the recent developments in the application of Article 101 TFEU to vertical agreements. Participants will be able to discuss the practical challenges in the assessment of vertical restraints and deepen their knowledge through workshop exercises and case studies. 

Representatives of the HCC will be speaking and attending the conference.

Issues addressed at the seminar include : 

  • the positive and negative effects of vertical agreements
  • the main steps in the assessment of vertical agreements
  • the implications of recent CJEU case law for the application of Article 101 TFEU to vertical restraints
  • recent trends in Article 101 TFEU enforcement in vertical cases
  • main changes introduced by Regulation (EU) 2022/720 (the Vertical Block Exemption Regulation
  • how to assess vertical restraints in digital markets.
