By its unanimous Decision No. 914/2026, adopted on June 4th, 2026, the Hellenic Competition Commission (HCC), in Chamber sitting, approved the concentration concerning the change in the control over the company “Sinokor Maritime” from sole control by Mr. Ga-Hyun Chung to joint control by the latter and “SAS Shipping Agencies Services S.à.r.l.”, a subsidiary of MSC Group, pursuant to the relevant provisions of the Greek Competition Act (Law 3959/2011).
The transaction concerns the sub-market for the provision of liquid bulk maritime transport, in particular by use of VLCC-type tankers, where the target Sinokor Maritime is currently active and MSC Group is expected to enter.
Taking into account the parties’ small market shares, both in terms of total capacity in gross tonnage (DWT) of VLCC-type tankers and in terms of the number thereof, the HCC approved the above transaction as, although it falls within the scope of Article 6(1) of Law 3959/2011, it does not raise serious concerns as to its compatibility with the requirements of effective competition in the relevant markets concerned.
